Joy Dome is a band that was formed in 1987 by ex-Electric Pilgrims Drew Thomas, James Glenn and Joy Dome as a gripping alternative to the growing trend toward mindlessness. The sound is powerful melodic hard rock in the tradition of the great English rock bands. The lyrics of James Glenn in such songs as "Coming Out Of The Darkness" and "Follow Me Down" lead the listener through the current mood of despair to a hopeful future.

Through the years, Joy Dome has played numerous gigs at the Back Room, the original Steamboat, and more recently at clubs on Sixth Street including The Capitol, The Vibe, and Bigsbys. They have also played numerous gigs with the Austin Indy Alliance and the Earth and Sky Alliance.

Joy Dome has played in various configurations throughout the years, thus the picture included in this year's application honors the original core group. Guitar virtuoso Lance Woodburn and rock solid bass/vocalist Steve Arthur are heard on the latest CD, "Coming Out Of The Darkness" available at Waterloo Records.
